Three tests for confidence, two for meaning. Pass all five and the insight can leave the room. SI is also the international system of units; the Q2SI Standard is the SI units of insight.

- Opportunity rule
- Assessment delivers a conclusion in two halves, Capture and Protect; Protect in enterprise-risk language (lenses, likelihood, magnitude).
- Idea rule
- Idea = Position × Target × Intended Outcome. All three present, or it is a theme. Position is not narrative; narrative is an Execution output.
- Measurement rule
- Instrument fixed in Strategy; baseline set in Assessment, with confidence bands, mandatory; Impact reported in Execution on the same instrument; results fed to the next Assessment.
- Handoff rule
- The (a, t) scores travel with every insight from phase to phase. Nothing below Narrow enters Strategy.

Optional score: a × t, 0 to 1, if a Q2SI number is ever wanted. The Standard remains a checklist; the score is a dial read after the checklist is passed.

- How far the insight travels beyond where it was found.
